FutaFriends works to establish permanent protection of the Futaleufu River through private conservation practices. The Chilean Congress is in process of passing a law that financially supports the establishment of conservation easements in Chile. FutaFriends works with national and international landowners to create the Futaleufu Conservancy along the Futaleufu River.

Futaleufu Conservancy - Support This Project
The Futaleufu Conservancy is a land trust program that integrates local and foreign landowners with the purpose of establishing a development strategy for the region that benefits all stakeholders in the valley, along with providing economic incentives for the conservation of the rivers edge and the natural resources of the river valley. The Futaleufu Conservancy will create, monitor and enforce development regulations for the Futaleufu River's edge. The Conservancy looks to conserve and restore more that 2300 acres of land bordering the Futaleufu River, establishing a 50-meter buffer zone that limits the development of large structures or large-scale deforestation practices within designated areas.
